Sue & Peter Lindsell's magical Hartham Park wedding

posted by: Karrie on 11 May 2008

You should have been there ...

Sue and Peter Lindsell at Hartham Park

to see the most beautiful of weddings planned in exquisite detail but still managing to be both subtle and intimate.

When Sue called me a few weeks ago after a recommendation from a previous client Scott Richardson, who supplied the wonderful delicate gold aisle carpet, Sue and I felt an immediate connection, so I knew this was going to be a special day and wow - what an understatement!

Guests enjoyed the perfect weather and beautiful scenery at Hartham Park listening to the Bath Spa String Quartet before Sue’s arrival in the burgundy and cream Rolls Royce. Once inside they were greeted by rooms seemingly full of roses and orchids by Passion, with the ceiling draped in white, but even the beautiful décor paled into insignificance once the bride arrived: Sue you looked stunning!

Liam, Sue’s 13 year old grandson and proud escort received a well-deserved standing ovation for his magnificent speech. (Your family must be so proud - well done Liam!); while Lisa, Sue’s god-daughter, niece and friend spoke lovingly of her aunt’s zest for life. I expect most of us envied their holidays together as she described Sue’s many gifts and warm personality.

Keith, Pete’s Best Man performed his role like a real star, and Pete? He was so relaxed as he made sure all his guests had a great time, and we could see why he was a ‘reel catch’!

I’m still ‘reeling’ from the attention to detail: garlands of roses and orchids over the entrance and down the stairs, individual sepia photo seating plans, crystal tea light holders and place name holders, crystal flowers adorning napkins, pearls and diamanté scattered as table confetti and a mountain of individual cakes frosted in pearlescent icing with a moulded ivory rose - topped by a small cake to cut.

When we left at midnight after the romantic First Dance, guests were obviously in for a fun time dancing to The Rare Bits ceilidh band.

Our thanks to Mark, Melissa and all the friendly Hartham Park staff for their help, but especially Glenn Edwards the Cardiff photographer whose relaxed documentary style made our work so easy - I’m sure most of the guests didn’t even notice he was there, but his captured images looked stunning.

Sue and Pete, I know you will be ecstatically happy together. Our congratulations and thanks for letting us share your day and ... see you soon on the decks.

Thank you both for a lovely day,its great to finally have Pete as part of the family. It was great to see all the family and all of our friends there to celebrate that special day. It was very nice to meet Pete’s family and friends and also to see my family from my grandma’s side, but most of all it was a great honour to walk my grandma up the aisle on her special day and I want to wish them many happy years together and I hope they have a great time on honeymoon.
Lots of love Liam.

The Lotus flower grows toward the warmth and light of the sun just as humans naturally grow toward the warmth of love and compassion, and toward the light of truth. The mature flower floats on the surface, bathing in the full light of the sun, well ‘anchored’ but moving freely according to the flow of the water - the changing current of any situation.
