Samantha and Matthew's Calderfields Golf Club wedding

posted by: Karrie on 5 October 2008

A windy day provided great footage of Samantha's veil flying above her and we were lucky to avoid the rain at St Margaret's Church in Great Barr and Calderfields Golf Club ...

Samantha and Matthew Walker - in the October sunshine

Sometimes a bride will let wind or rain ruin their day because they’ve dreamed of sunshine, but Samantha didn’t let anything spoil her wedding ceremony in beautiful St Margaret’s Church. There was another wedding straight afterwards and with a late start to the ceremony our friends photographers Les and Ste Woodhams of Barry James Photography had to work fast, but of course they coped admirably!

Then it was off to the reception with the bride and groom in a beautiful Wedding Day Beauford and loads of fun for everyone who took the Hummer by Home James.

The reception was held at Calderfields Golf Club. (A new venue for us and we’d like to extend our thanks for the help of all the excellent and helpful staff.) Samantha and Matthew did a great film and photo shoot using the golf carts to drive to the lake, before returning to see the marquee decorated with lilac balloons and with a stunning cake by Betty Cotton of The Cake Company, for their wedding breakfast - it looked great, but not as stunning as Samantha in her beautiful ivory gown. Matthew and all the bridal party looked good too!

Excellent music was provided throughout the reception by Midlands Pro DJ - brass, jazz singing and the disco that followed. Guest messages, a surprise fun casino and reggae that rocked - everything was provided for their guests’ pleasure.

Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Walker - have a great honeymoon. Please leave Matthew and Samantha a message using the contact form below (or email me to do it for you if you prefer), and we’ll drop you an email when their wedding video hits our movie theatre.

Sam, what can I say - you scared me to death when you arrived so late - another wedding following, the weather turning nasty and a vicar hyperventilating! Then you arrived, the smile cancelled the problems, the vicar relaxed a little, the weather was kind and everyone helped to get all of the photos at church completed.

Full praise to Calderfields when we arrived late - no pressure, time allowed to complete the coverage. You haven’t seen them yet, I have, what a magic set of photos you have to choose from.  Everyone was great to work with on your day - the Church, Electra for your filming, Home James for the Hummer, Wedding Day Beauford and obviously Calderfields.

Hope your honeymoon was superb. See you soon to choose your pics everyone else must wait for the on line photos - NOTHING GOES ON TILL YOU’VE SEEN THEM!

Samantha, you looked so beautiful, the perfect bride.  Me and your dad are so proud of you. Your dad said it was an honour and one of his proudest moments walking you down the aisle. No one could wish for a better daughter we love you so very much.
It was such a lovely day and everyone had a good time. The church service was beautiful, the hymns you chose were so uplifting. We know how important that part of the day was to you. The rain held off which we know was your main concern.  The cars were great and me and your dad enjoyed our ride in the limo drinking champagne!  The venue was magical, the service and food was first class, your bouquet and flowers were lovely and the cake divine. It was such a shame that the DJ’s refused to play your song list which I know had taken you a long time to compile.  Sorry to all the guests who didn’t enjoy the music it wasn’t Sam and Matts fault, the DJ’s seemed intent on pleasing themselves.
Your dad was so worried about his speech, he was concerned that he might let you down!  He did just fine.  It’s a pity Matt and the best man didn’t put as much thought into theirs!
We wish you both a happy and contented life together, Samantha you deserve all the happiness in the world, Matthew, she is still our little girl and so precious to us we want you to cherish her with all your heart and always put her first and make her happy.
God bless, with all our love Mom and Dad Frazer XX

Samantha Frazer, My dearest friend.

The day had finally arrived and I had been given more then I had hoped for. Just to watch you walk down that aisle was a blessing and to know you have found your imperfect man and that you are willing to love him perfectly, are some of the reasons why Matt stood there besides you.

However, I did you no justice as I should have stood beside you and offered a speech on your behalf, so I beg my pardons and offer you this:

Samantha, there is no greater speech then the one your father had given you and his words moved us all as we all shared a tear of joy. The only offer of wisdom I can give you is that, life is not easy, and times will be hard and when those days fall upon you, you look upon this day and remember all your family and friends that are here, to whom have faith in you, both, to live a blissful life.
Allow Matt to take your hand to walk through life with, look upon his eyes, see the love that he shares for you and say ‘it’s worth it’

Sam, my dad left me with 5 sayings; I never quite understood what he meant, until now.

People are measured not by their money but their there friends.
(There is not better friend then you have found in Matt (and us!) and he in you)

Success is measured not by wealth but by there accomplishments.
(You have worked hard to get there you are, it was hard and yet worth it, in the words of Mr Frazer, ‘I get a kick out of saying my daughter is a solicitor’ (my little brother loves it too))

Individuals are measured not by what they have done but what they are willing to do.
(There is no end to the lengths you would go to help others, esp. me, I am not just grateful but honoured)

Dreams are not measured by the scale of fortune but by the rate of happiness.
(You have big dreams, always stay true to yourself)

We are not measured by what we are but who we are.
(And who you are, is the perfect child, wife and friend)

Make no mistake in the love that we share for you and we like Matt, will try our best to protect and serve, for when you are drunk on holiday, I promise to peel you off the ground or if you ever loose your luggage again, I’ll steal the nearest persons shoes, or if you are ever hungry, Kelly will throw you some jelly totts! And if we overspend on our next shopping trip, Julia, will get the Taxman to fiddle the accounts and if all else falls and we get caught, Sam, I promise you this, we’ll be sitting in the cell next to you!!

Happy thoughts, for you both.

Lady Jusna. X

Congratulations Sam and Matt

I was really excited that you both had got engaged and you told me on my wedding day. I was really happy for you both as you make a great couple.

I really enjoyed helping you plan your henweekend. It was a fab weekend and I think we will be having girlie weekends away every year from now on…

I was glad that I could help you both with the little details of planning your wedding and Sam helping you to find your gorgeous dress.

I know Matt didn’t want a wedding DVD but Martin and I helped you to persuade him and now you have the best day of your life caught on camera so that you can relive the day over and over again. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do with ours.

The big day finally arrived. I was so excited. Martin and I were still running around on the morning trying to get ready on time and planning to pick up Louise and auntie Kathy. I realised that my mum had my hairstraigtners and luckily my cousin Sarah came to the rescue and did my hair for me. We only just made it to the church on time. It was a good job you were late Sam or we would have missed the wedding !!!

We enjoyed the wedding ceremony and the songs you chose were lovely. I was sat next to Julia and she sang the songs beautifully, you may have heard her, she sang loud and proud.

The venue was perfect, the food was lovely and the Jazz man was great. Sam you were radiant, Matt, you scrubbed up well !!! You both looked very happy together. Your first dance was amazing and you really entertained your guests.

Martin and I loved the casino as you will know we were the first ones there and the last to leave, that’s my auntie Kathy’s influence !!!

Thankyou for a supurb day.

We wish you all the best for a long and happy future together. Remember that you will always have each other but you also have your friends no matter how far away.

All our love kelly and Martin x x x

Hello everyone! Right where to begin...?
Well I think I’ll start with a big THANK YOU to everyone who came to our wedding, I was quite overwhelmed at the turnout & I was surprised I even knew that many people let alone who liked me enough to come to my wedding! :-)
I think you will agree Sam looked absolutely gorgeous & even though she was very late (through no fault of her own for once may I add) She managed to walk down the aisle with the grace & beauty of a princess. I was so excited when I knew she was coming down the aisle, I wanted to look but I wanted to wait untill she stood next to me. When I turned i saw how beautiful she looked & knew how lucky I am to have her! She seemed nervous as hell but she soon calmed down when the hymns kicked in & she was able to sing her heart out!
The photos outside were great & the guys from Barry James did a fantastic job given the conditions & the difficulty of organising crowds of cold people. Despite the cold on her shoulders & the wind blowing her veil all over the place Sam managed to soldier on unassisted! I was freezing & I had a suit on! (& I do think you’ll agree how snazzy it was haha!) As you can see in the pics Sams smile is absolutely beautiful & that’s what I first fell in love with when I met her.
Calderfields was fantastic & I couldn’t ask for any more from Paul & the staff. Our photos down by the lake & in the buggy were great fun. I wish i could have done more to help Sam in the cold and wind but i was unsure how everything was supposed to go or fit (veil etc). Eventually someone gave her her shawl & she was warm again & ready to bomb it down to the lake in the buggy. I’m so glad she pushed me to have some pics down there because they have turned out really well. (if anyone wants to view them on the net pls contact me).
The food was beautiful but neither Liggo (best man) or I could really savour the flavours due to the immense amount of nerves we both had about the speeches! We had both spent ages (approx a year for me) planning them & worrying about what to say. We planned & wrote them all by ourselves without help from anyone & were still typing, printing & rearranging even on the wedding morning! I am pleased to say that I think we did ok...... because I thought they were going to be dreadful haha!! I am especially proud of myself for actually being able to stand up in front of all you people & still make words come out of my mouth with reasnable clarity as I never in a million years would have thought I could do something like that! The only thing I regret about my speech is that I forgot to thank my Dad for taking me on the most amazing father/son stag do ever to Las Vegas! It truly was one the best times of my life & even better was when my dad said how easily he could handle the 1000ft high ride at the top of the Stratosphere only to realise that his Kahunas were not as big as he thought they were & when we came back to earth he also realised his trousers were also not as clean as he thought they were!!! Thank you again dad!
Anyway...The night was kicked off by the SEXophonist who was really good & played some great stuff. The Djs were surprised at our choice for the second song but they will agree it went down great. Everyone loves a bitta Beenie Man! :-) The one thing I never knew about the Dj’s was that they were twins as I had only met one of them so that caused a bit of confusion to me for a few mins. They did a great job of keeping the dancefloor full all night (except when I put my cd on but then I wouldn’t expect anyone to dance to my music but I had to play it anyway!)Thankyou boys you were great!
I apologise to Scott Lane for all the lads from the stag do beating him up on the dancefloor but I’m sure they’ll agree he deserved it haha.
We had a lovely break at Coombe abbey after the wedding & a nice relaxing time reflecting on the wedding & the year or so we spent planning it.

All in all I had a fantastic day & wouldn’t alter a thing about it.
My bride was and still is absolutely beautiful & wouldn’t change her in any way. She is perfect for me and is not only my wife but is my best friend too! Love you loads Sam!
It really was the best day of my life & also the best I will probably ever look so if you like any of the picture make sure you get one cos’ Ill never look better than that again!!
Thank you again to everyone loadsa love Matt xxx
