Yippee - Yaaay!

We're back - but in case you didn't know we'd been away ...

The phone and internet have been off for best part of a week and it’s been driving me nuts. No emails, no calls and no blogging! My eldest son Matthew has been telling everyone that ‘Mum’s going cold turkey!’ and he’s not far wrong.

I could complain about BT’s painful fault reporting system - don’t get me started - and yes I have a mobile, but in our rural backwater the signal’s a bit hit and miss, but I’ll spare you.

Having no internet is a bit like when the electric goes off and you decide to do some alternative jobs round the house ... except you walk to the hoover, then the iron, the washing machine ... then give up and decide to put the (electric) kettle on for a cuppa!

Apologies to anyone who sent us an email or enquiry. I will be in touch just as soon as I can now all is restored to normal. But is it normal? I have an uncluttered desktop, my PC files are now so logical that I can find a folder in seconds and I can see the office carpet clearly without piles of boxes covering it.

Anyone else had to manage without a phone or internet for that long? Any tales to tell? Use the comments form below. Please tell me I’m not the only geek in town.

PS. Heating’s just broken and I left the house VERY early this morning to film a seminar at Aston Science Park so didn’t know I needed a plumber ... anyone trying to tell me something?!
