Packington Moor wedding for Sarah and Neil Williams
posted by: Karrie on 2 August 2009
It may have rained most of Saturday - but not on this bridal party …

Mr and Mrs Williams at Packington Moor
Sarah and Neil were married at St Luke’s Church, Cannock and by a stroke of good fortune, there was a break in the weather to allow bridesmaids Coleen Worrall, Gemma Carpenter, Alex Jobson and Emma Ward and flower girl Phoebe Brunskill to arrive in the dry. The bridesmaids looked lovely in the aubergine coloured dresses made by Sarah’s mother Susan – who had also made matching cravats for the men - a talented lady (and also an Electra Films ‘bride’ too, as we’ve recently made a DVD (define) using her original cine film and wedding photos). Neil with Best Man Simon Pembery, and ushers Chris Tunnicliffe and David Jones all looked the part too!
Sarah and her father arrived soon afterwards, and still the rain held off long enough for them to take the same walk up the church drive that Sarah’s parents and grandparents had made at their own weddings years before. Former professional footballer for Huddersfield Town & Wallsall turned vicar, the Reverend Peter Hart, was on hand to welcome everyone … and still the rain held off as Musica Wind Ensemble played to an appreciative audience who had all rushed into church to avoid the weather.
As Sarah and Neil made their vows and exchanged rings in a lovely ceremony, outside the heavens were opening, so after the wedding there was no prospect of the traditional photo shoot and confetti – just a dash via the short cut through the vestry for the guests to the car park. However, before Sarah and Neil left church there was a break in the weather so photographer Neil Maxwell could get a few shots in the church doorway, while the ever-thoughtful (and totally reliable) super people from Platinum Cars had managed to drive the Austin Princess Limousine and Daimler Royal Limousine almost to the door.
On to lovely country venue Packington Moor for the wedding reception, where again guests had to take shelter from the rain indoors, but again luck was on the bride and groom’s side and when they arrived it was dry enough to forget umbrellas for the walk across the courtyard. Classical guitarist Graham Roberts was on hand to provide the musical accompaniment to the drinks reception and before the excellent wedding breakfast, it was even dry enough for the couple to be showered with confetti.
After speeches and cutting of the cake we filmed video guest messages but more musical treats were in store. Swingin’ Jim’s Dance Band had set up in the outer barn and by now the bad weather had passed and everyone welcomed the chance to relax outside.
Neil’s own band Star Treatment had set up in the Malt Bar, and were ready to play a set starting with the First Dance. What a surprise for everyone as Sarah and Neil led off on a choreographed routine to the song ‘Can’t take my eyes off you”! It was always going to be difficult to keep Neil away and he joined in with the vocal for the next song and got settled into his drums for a couple of tracks after that. Mike and Chris left as the guests were about to get ready for the evening buffet with more good music, fun and dancing ahead.
Our congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Williams. I know I’m really looking forward to seeing their day on DVD and if you leave them a goodwill message using the comments form below we’ll email you when their Packington Moor wedding video highlights is online in our movie theatre.

Congratulations Sarah & Neil! What a lovely couple you make! It might have rained on the day but I’m sure there will be plenty of sunshine together in the future. Everything about the day was just perfect with lots of very personal touches. The music was lovely and Sarah looked spectacular in her gown. Wishing you a long and happy married life - we remember so clearly watching Mum & Dad ( Sue & Andy) walking down that same aisle many years ago.
