Jess and David's Callow Hall wedding
posted by: Karrie on 20 April 2010
Our second wedding on Saturday was also bathed in bright sunshine ...

Jess and David - slender and suave in the Callow Hall sunshine.
As Mike and Janet filmed Jess and David’s super wedding at Callow Hall near Ashbourne, starting in Denstone with bridal preparations at their lovely cottage home I thought I’d let them tell us about the day themselves so ...
The most glorious of sunny days. Bride at home was very excited but calm and cool – everything under control due to careful advanced planning! Their dog Dexter was resplendant in colour co-ordinated collar and lead while Bridesmaid Noni (bride’s niece) looking pretty in mauve and usher Connor (brides’s nephew) equally calm and collected - especially Connor with his ‘usher’ monogrammed socks!!
Next stop Callow Hall where the Groom was attended by Best Man George Smith. The ceremony went well except for a tense moment when the registrar dropped Dave’s ring with a resounding ‘ping’ onto the stone floor. Readings by Allan Turner entitled “Marriage is the greatest happiness of all” and Sue Cutts with verses by John Dunn – “Only love hath no decay” and an amusing piece by John Cooper Clark – “ I wanna be your vacuum cleaner”
The ceremony was followed by Pimms and canapés on the lawns with lots of photos by photographer Denise Wheat and her husband – excellent photographers and also friends of the couple.
Speeches followed excellent meal. Father of the Bride Dai Davis and the Groom gave very sincere and emotional speeches. Best Man George kept it short and sweet (he’d left his speech in the car!!) and he had everyone in stitches.
Evening dancing was led off by the Bride’s parents. Guests were also treated to a beautiful wedding cake by Carole Gregory and a chocolate fountain supplied by Choc Amor Fountains before a hog roast was served outside after the first set. Video messages were filmed before the First Dance - Amazed by Lonestar.
FUNNY STORY OF THE DAY - the Bride and Groom were locked out of their room due to a faulty lock (or was it sabotage??) They had to wait whilst a maintenance man was called, who used a adder to break in through their first floor window and smash open the door from inside. (We have it on tape!!)
The honeymoon is to be a Mediterranian cruise from Southampton and with so many flights cancelled because of the Icelandic volcanic ash it’s lucky they’re not intending flying!
Our thanks to Callow Hall, Denise Wheat and especially to toastmaster Derek Timmins-Jones for a smoothlyorganised day and congratulations from us all at Electra to the new Mr and Mrs Turner. Please leave them a message using the comments form below and we’ll email you when their video highlights hits our online movie theatre.
