Oak Farm Hotel wedding For Sarah and Steve
posted by: Karrie on 19 July 2011
One of our favourite venues where weddings run as smooth as silk because the staff are just so darned good at what they do ...

Lovely couple at Oak Farm Hotel
I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for months because Sarah has kept me updated with her plans and I’ll hold up my hands and admit that when she said the theme of the wedding was Rock and Roll, vintage tea party and Star Wars ... I had my doubts! But guess what? It really worked - because the wedding was all about what Steve and Sarah enjoy, and like the couple themselves the ideas just melded together like magic. (Check out the photos and I just know you’l agree too!)
It was another busy day and I was filming with Mike while Rei was photographing with the lovely Gary, so a great team we thought LOL! We started at the groom preparations where Steve was busy not getting ready but compiling 2 photo boards to display at the reception - one way to keep calm I suppose. (Good job Steve by the way.) Loved the vintage motors provided by Steve’s dad too - a fun touch.
On to the bridal preparations where the hair and make-up artistes were busy at work on Sarah’s gorgeous hair and gilding the lily with a natural looking make-up that looked good all day.
Next on to Oak Farm Hotel ready for all the arrivals. Lots of natural footage shot before the arrival of Bride and bridesmaids. Sarah totally blew away Steve when he saw her walk up the aisle and she was ably assisted by chic bridesmaids Emma Scarlett and Nikki Gallagher dressed in gorgeous blue short dresses. Loved it ladies!
Rain was threatening but as soon as Sarah sent a prayer up to her Grandad the clouds lifted for her. It was really amazing and we managed to get all the photos ouside in the gardens and patios after the cermony too!
A lovely ceremony with smart page boys Jorden and Matthew leading the procession and lovely readings by Elizabeth Ray and Nicky Harris.Steve was assisted by Best Men and brothers Justin and Stuart Dawson with ushers Stuart Mrozowski and Craig Tracey - cool dudes one and all!
On to the wedding breakfast where Sarah’s rock and roll idea meant table names were on ‘vinyl records’ and the vintage tea party idea meant flowers were in lovely cream and white metal jugs with china cups and saucers for the guests’ tea / coffee to follow.
Speeches were short but well done and original - loved the musical references in the Best Man’s speech. (Letting you in on a secret the crew guess at the total length of the speeches and Gary was pretty close when he guessed 25 minutes as they hit 21 minutes!)
After the typically excellent Oak Farm meal guests wandered outside and Rei and Gary got some great shots of the guys planking and owling (see the photos!!!) while the kids made use of the bubbles Sarah had provided - all good fun!
When the evening guests arrived it was on to throwing the bouquet, the cutting of the wedding cake (more photos) and ... more food with a delicious buffet before the First Dance and music played by Steve’s dad’s band Chicago Shakedown and the always excellent Blaze Disco. A long day but the photos are super and can’t wait to see the film!
